Paulaner Oktoberfest & Concerts from Mgła, Utzalu & More

This video’s been ready for about ten days, but a few things have been keeping me from sharing my beer videos. I’ve decided that outside circumstances aren’t nearly as important as sharing the glory of beer and heavy metal, so let’s get right to it. This video’s twenty minutes long, so brew some tea or grab a beer and sip with me while I share my thoughts on seeing two fantastic concerts. The first concert featured performances by Mystics in Bali, Nefaria, Bilirubin, and Utzalu in a basement in southeast Portland. It was a wild time and each act is worth your attention.

Mere days later, I witnessed a decidedly higher profile show, with Daemoniis ad Noctum, DEATHSTENCH, Sempiternal Dusk, Weregoat, and Mgła at Panic Room here in northeast Portland. Both shows were fantastic in their own way and it was really fascinating to witness similarities and differences in energy of the audiences and performers at each gig. Folks who only make their way to larger shows should really check out and support their local underground to see the rising talents. It’s something I’ve missed out on a lot in the last few years and it totally hit a special place in me that I hadn’t visited since my early twenties. Anyway, enough rambling. Watch on and share your thoughts as a YouTube comment or by sending me an email!
